*New* Cancer Screenings
If you are concerned that your pet may have something going on that is unclear, a blood test can give you more information. The test can tell
you:
- Green=No cancer concern
- Yellow=Suggestive of cancer, x-ray or ultrasound is recommended
- Red=Cancer is present, next steps would be highly suggestive
Behavior Consultations
Some pets may have challenges with the change in their new home, new housemates, or just new pet owners. As pets age, they can also exhibit unusual behaviors. Their behavior can consist of many different unwanted behaviors such as:
- Biting
- Chewing and excessive licking
- Inappropriate urination and or defecation
- Barking
- Whining
- Not interested in food
- Sleeping more than normal
Free Consultations
Our free consultation is NOT to diagnose or treat your pet over the phone, but it is to help you gain more information about the next steps for your pet. The next steps would include:
- Scheduling an appointment
- Recommending the emergency clinic or local veterinary clinic
Deworming
Every pet should be on a deworming program every 6-12 months. That would consist of treating intestinal parasites such as:
- Hookworms
- Roundworms
- Tapeworms
- Whipworms
Fecal Sample Analysis
A fecal sample is collected to identify any intestinal parasites. Some parasites will only be found by looking for them under the microscope.
Full Laboratory Services
As a pet ages bloodwork is recommended to make sure the organs are functioning properly. I will collect blood from the pet to send it out to the lab.
Health Certificate Issuance
Pet health certificates are required for pets traveling both domestically within the United States and internationally. We’re happy to assist you with your pet’s health certificate, but the associated paperwork can take several weeks to process.
Different countries have different travel criteria, so we’ll need to determine exactly what you’ll need and what requirements you’ll have to meet in order for your pet to travel with you.
Start planning at least two months in advance for domestic travel and four months in advance for international travel. If rabies titers are required, i.e. Hawaii, Australia, etc, it is likely that you may need more time for planning and testing. Please check requirements for both interstate and international travel at aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel.
Estimated cost:
- Local Health Certificate: $125
- International Health Certificate: varies in price
Heartworm Test
Heartworm disease is transmitted by mosquitoes. It only takes 1 mosquito to cause your pet (inside/outside) to become infected. Cats and dogs should be on heartworm prevention that protects them monthly for life.
New Pet Selection
Bringing a new pet into your home can be exciting but it is important that your pet is the best fit for you and your family. Karebears can help you by recommending the best pet to become the next member of your family.
Online Pharmacy
Karebears has an online pharmacy that can support all your pets’ medication. The medication can be directly shipped to your home.
Physical Examinations
Each pet will have a physical exam which consist of listening to his/her heart, lungs and getting a temperature. I will also examine all other exterior body organs.
Vaccinations
Pets require vaccinations to stay healthy. Rabies is required by law. Vaccines are given to your pet based on their lifestyle. If they visit parks, neighbor pets, groomers, and boarding facilities, then they would require more vaccines than a pet who never leaves the inside of the home.
Hospice care
When your pet has come to a point in its life where they require more care to keep them comfortable then hospice care is recommended. Hospice care can consist of:
- Subcutaneous fluids
- Pain medication
- Weekly assessment of the quality of life
Microchipping
It is strongly recommended that all pets are microchipped. A microchip can help a lost pet be reunited with their family. It is not a tracking device but when the pet is scanned the pet’s microchip can help reconnect them with their family.
Ultrasound and X-Rays
